The diplomatic service have to work as a military unit, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said during his visit to Avdiivka on August 26.
«The diplomatic service have to work as a military unit today. The President has two wings – the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the diplomatic service. Soldiers of the diplomatic service who, in war conditions, play an equally important role as the Ukrainian army. It is very important to bring peace to Ukraine jointly,» – the Head of State said.
The President also noted that in September 2014 the war was stopped not only thanks to the Ukrainian military, but also to a large extent due to the efforts of Ukrainian diplomats.
Poroshenko noted the importance that every life of a Ukrainian soldier given in the fight against the Russian occupiers and Russian aggressor will not be for nothing.
«We paid a very high price for this. In order to have the opportunity to carry out reforms, move to Europe, NATO and change our Ukraine,» – the Head of State said.
Addressing Ukrainian diplomats, the President noted that he relies heavily on them, first of all, on peace, unity of the whole world and solidarity with Ukraine, and ensuring the construction of a new Ukrainian state.
«I am sure that this is a historical mission. And I am sure that we are now those bearing a huge responsibility. I ask: let us be worthy of this responsibility,» – Poroshenko said.
