The French Government to cut nearly 15,000 civil servants by 2020

French Prime Minister Edouard Philip has anounsed Country’s plans on reducing of about 15 thousand government employees by 2020.

The State Budget of France for 2019 will be laid proceeding from the forecast of growth of gross national product (GNP) by 1,7%, besides, earlier the Government expected that this indicator will reach 1,9%.

In this regard, Paris plans to cut budget expenditures in order not to violate the EU standards, which regulate the deficit of the state budget for its members. The maximum permissible EU indicator is 3% of GNP, writes Deutsche Welle.

The Minister also reported on other specific measures: the reduction of 4,500 civil servants in 2019 and another 10,000 in 2020. In addition, pensions, as well as family and housing benefits will no longer be tied to inflation indicators, that is, they will increase more slowly.

These measures were criticized, both by the left and right political parties in France.
