Today, August 24, Mikhail Babich was appointed as the Russia’s Ambassador to Minsk, who previously served as the Russian President’s accredited representative in Privolzhsky Federal District.. The politician has never held diplomatic posts before.

Note that in 2016 Moscow wanted to appoint Babich as Ambassador to Kyiv, but the Ukrainian authorities rejected this appointment. As the experts note, this was due to the involvement of Babich in the Russian power structures.

Thus, Babich was a member of the Security Council of Russia, and Ukraine believed that Babich personally participated in the decision on the annexation of Crimea by Russia.

Previously, Babich also served as a chairman of the pro-Russia Chechen government, is a member of the United Russia political party, DW news agency reported.

As The Journalist reported, the leader of the Serbians, who fought on the side of militants in Donbas, was detained in Serbia.
