Eight men have accused Ravi Karkara, Senior Adviser to the UN Division for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, Newsweek agency reports.
Now the organization has «a job of work to do» to restore trust. An internal investigation regard to Karkara has began in December 2017.
After 13 months of investigation, no charges have been filed against the official. Prior to this he was not identifying by name. In July, the UN said that the suspected employee «remains on administrative leave», but is still receiving a salary.
Note that Ravi Karkara for a long time remained immune to charges due to his close relationship with the leadership of the UN Division. For this reason, the victims of his harassment kept silence, as they feared of revenge.
