Italy has arrested six out of 15 persons, suspected in the recruitment of mercenaries to participate in the war in Donbas. This was posted by the Ukraine embassy in Italy on Facebook.
«On the night of August 1, 2018, Italian law enforcers have exposed an organized criminal group, which was recruiting and financing of individuals to participate in illegal combat operations in Donbas, on pro-Russian forces side,» – Ukrainian diplomats said.
«An appropriate criminal case was opened in connection with the information provided by the Ukrainian Embassy in Italy, about the participation of Italians in the Donbas war,» – the report said.
It is noted that The investigation led by the Prosecutor’s Office of Genoa (Liguria region) focuses on a total of 15 people: six of them were arrested in Milan, as well as in the provinces of Parma and Avellino.
The Embassy and the Consulate General of Ukraine in Milan keep this matter under special control.
