In addition to the burqa and niqab, it is prohibited to wear balaclava, masks and overhead beards and mustaches in public places. It is not prohibited to wear masks for carnival and Halloween, as well as winter scarves. This is reported by Deutsche Welle.
The report notes that in Denmark (just like in France and Austria earlier), a law that prohibits the citizens from hiding their face in public places came into force in August 1. Under the ban are not only Muslim apparels, but also various masks (for example ski masks), as well as overhead mustaches and beards.
It is noted that infractions are punishable by fines, ranging from EUR 134 to EUR 1,340.
The ban does not include masks for carnival and Halloween, as well as winter scarves.
Critics believe that the norms of the law are spelled out not clearly enough.
It is known that only about 200 women in Denmark are believed to wear the face veil.
Recall, that similar laws have been came into effect since 2011 in France and Belgium and in Austria since October 1, 2017. Also In Austria, the law clearly specifies the requirement for Muslims to adapt in the framework of integration to European customs. The violations are punishable by fines of up to EUR 150.
As The Journalist reported earlier, Danish parliament bans the wearing of face veils in public.
