In the Black Sea near Odessa, the ships of the permanent NATO naval group No. 2, the Permanent Mine Action Team of NATO No. 2 and the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces conducted joint exercises such as PASSEX.
As reported by the press center Naval Forces of Ukraine three tactical groups participated in the training – multi-purpose ships, mine craft and artillery boats .
PASSEX began with tactical maneuvering of all involved forces. Further frigates De Ruyter Royal Navy of the Netherlands, Regele Ferdinand MC of Romania, Fatih of the Turkish Navy and «Hetman Sagaidachnyi» of the Ukrainian Navy Air Forces worked out the exercises in cooperation with the cutter tactical groups in the small armored artillery boats of the Navy AFU «Ackerman», «Berdyansk», «Vyshgorod», «Kremenchug» and «Lubny». The purpose of the first was to reflect the small-scale speed targets, and the second – the imitation of artillery strikes on the combat group of multipurpose ships.
During the training, minesweepers Lupu Dinescu of Romania, Anamur of Turkey and the mine sweeper of Genichesk of Ukraine carried out search and identification of anchor and bottom mines (simulators), and diving teams – their examination.
A helicopter from the frigate De Ruyter was also involved in the actions, which carried out elements of tactical maneuvering.
As «Journalist» reported, the Defense Ministry stated that the aircraft of the APU is ready to respond to the threat from the sea.
