Representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches also joined the celebrations.
In addition, several thousand believers from different regions of Ukraine came to the capital to take part in the events conducted by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
People’s deputies of Ukraine attended the prayer service.
After the event topped off, the procession with relics was held from St. Vladimir Hill to Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.
According to the Kyiv Police Department about 5,000 policemen provided public order during the celebrations in the capital.
In this regard, in the center of Kyiv a riot control has been established, and the police officers were checking citizens and their personal belongings with metal detectors.
