Today, July 27 in Kiev on the Saint Vladimir Hill, a moleben (service of intercession – ed.) on the occasion of the 1030th anniversary of Kievan Rus-Ukraine has begun. On this day, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) conducts the celebration in the Kyiv downtown.

The moleben was performed by the Primate of the UOC, His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine Onuphrius, in the co-operation of representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches. Several thousand believers from all over Ukraine came to Kiev to join the celebration of the 1030th anniversary of the Baptism of Kievan Rus-Ukraine.

After the event will be topped off, the procession begins with the shrines. Representatives of the episcopate, clergy and believers will go from St. Vladimir Hill to Kiev Pechersk Lavra.
The Holy Cross procession will be held along the Trehsvyatitelskaya st., European Square, Mikhail Grushevsky st., Ivan Mazepa st., Lavrska st.
Traffic in downtown Kyiv would be closed from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. local time.

Among the events planned, the commemoration of those who lost their lives during the Maidan Protests in February 2014, will be held in the center of the capital.
The procession will end with an All-Night Vigil on the square outside the monastery’s Holy Dormition Cathedral.
