Detained for illegal activities on promotion of Russian interests in the United States, Maria Butina spoke in support of the separatists in the Donbas.

This is evidenced by entries in her blog on «Live Journal», as well as video on her Youtube channel, TSN news agency reports.

In June 2014, Butina participated in a rally in support of the so-called «New Russia», which was held in Moscow. In her blog, she urged people to go to a rally and donate money to militants. She also stated that «the Russians of Ukraine have the right to revolt».

In addition, Butina stressed that if Russia were allowed to legally carry firearms, the Russian mercenaries in the Donbas would be a lot more.

At the same meeting, Butina was one of the speakers. In her speech, she justified the annexation of the Crimea and stated that «Donbas is on the same path.» She called for support of separatists by «volunteers, humanitarian aid, on the Internet and in all ways». At the same time, she called the events in the Donbass a «civil war».
