President of the United States of America Donald Trump said that the US and Russia will compete in the supplying of energy resources to Europe.
The US president said this at the presidential palace in Helsinki (Finland) at a joint press conference with Russian President Volodymyr Putin, Currenttime.tv television channel broadcasted.
In particular, Trump was asked to clarify his position on Russia’s construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.
«I think we will compete – if you talk about the pipeline (Nord Stream-2 – ed.). I’m not sure necessarily that it’s in the best interest of Germany or not but that was the decision that they made,» – Trump said.
The American Head of State noted that since the United States became the world’s leader in oil and gas production, the country is ready to compete with Russia by selling liquefied gas to Europe, including the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.
As «The Journalist» reported, Putin assured Trump that he would keep gas transit through Ukraine.
