Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin will lead the Ukrainian delegation at the tripartite talks with Russia and the European Union on the terms of gas transportation, which will be held in Berlin on July 17.
This is stated in a message on the official website of the Council of the European Union, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
«On the initiative of the Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union, Maroš Šefčovič, the tripartite ministerial talks with Russia and Ukraine on the terms of gas transit to Europe will be held on June 17, in Berlin,» – the report said.
Russia’s Energy Minister Alexander Novak and representatives of Russia’s Gazprom and Ukraine’s Naftogaz will also participate in consultations.
Mr Šefčovič stressed that constructive and stable co-operation between Russia and Ukraine in the field of energy is of outmost importance for both countries and the European Union. He also noted that the need for a continued transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to the EU in a reliable and commercially viable way is an integral part of this cooperation.
