The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) stated that they did not and will not recognize the annexation of the Ukrainian Crimea by the Russian Federation.
This is stated in the declaration, adopted at the NATO summit in Brussels with the participation of the heads of state and government of the member countries of the Alliance.
«We strongly condemn Russia’s illegal and illegitimate annexation of Crimea, which we do not and will not recognize. The discrimination against the Crimean Tatars and members of other local communities must end,» – the document said.
The declaration notes that International monitoring structures must be allowed to carry out their essential work in view of the protection of human rights on the peninsula.
As «The Journalist» reported, NATO said that the problem of construction of the North Stream-2 pipeline is beyond competence of the Alliance.
