China arrests several hundred officials for environmental violations

After the nationwide environmental audit, hundreds of violations were identified that led to environmental pollution. This is reported by Reuters.
As it became known, more than 4 thousand officials in 10 provinces and regions of China had been held to account for failing to rectify disclosed violations
As a result, some of them were facing fines while others were jailed.

«In total, inspections involved 28,076 violations. More than $77.13 million fines have been issued. Some 464 officials had been subject administrative or criminal arrest,» – the report said

It is noted that China is in the fifth year of its war on environmental pollution.
