A Mi-8 military helicopter crashed today in the mountains near Khan Tengri Peak (Kyrgyzstan). It crashed during the rescue operation on the South Inylchek (Issyk-Kul oblast’). This is reported by UNN news agency.
According to preliminary information, the helicopter belonged to the Air Defense Force of the Kyrgyz Republic. In the result of the accident four people were injured. As the General Staff of Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic reported, the helicopter fell to the left side because of the strong side wind during the landing.
The helicopter supposed to carry out an operation to evacuate alpinists from the mountain slope.
At present, measures are being taken to evacuate the victims.
