EU calls on Russia to accept its responsibility on the downing of MH17 flight

Leaders of the 28 EU member states have called on the Russian Federation to recognize responsibility for the shooting down of the Malaysian Boeing 777 flight MH17, which was downed in the Donetsk region on July 17, 2014.

This is stated in the conclusion on the results of the first day of the summit the heads of state and government of the euro area in Brussels, which was published on the EU Council website.

«The European Council reaffirms its full support for UN Security Council Resolution 2166 regarding MH17 downing. It called on the Russian Federation to recognize its responsibility and fully cooperate with all efforts to establish truth, justice, and accountability», – the conclusion stated.
