The United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations Nikki Haley criticized the head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office, Vladimir Voronkov, because he forbided the representatives of non-governmental organizations to participate in the discussions in the forum of heads of counter-terrorism agencies of the world organization which will be held on Thursday in New York. This is reported by UNN.
It is reported that the Representative of the United States was outraged by the decision of the new UN Counter-Terrorism Office to block access for non-governmental organizations.
Haley expressed a note of mistrust to Russia, Syria, Iran, Cuba and Venezuela in issues related to the fight against terrorism. She stressed that for these countries the restriction of access and blocking the participation of civil society is normal thing. In this regard, the US decided to reduce the level of her representation at the conference.
Recall that previously an unofficial source in the US administration said that because of the UN decision to close down part of the discussions at the conference for representatives of non-governmental organizations, American authority will cut funding for the UN Counter-Terrorism Department as a countermeasure.
On the question of whether the decision on financial cuts connected with the fact that the Head of the Counter-Terrorism Office is Russian, the source of the agency said this is «no matters».
As «The Journalist» reported earlier, the US decided to quit the UN Human Rights Council.
