The National Bank of Ukraine will cease minting coins of small denomination (1, 2, 5 and 25 kopiikas) and, in order to simplify calculations, the rounding rules will be introduced for the final amount of a purchase, said the director of the NBU monetary circulation department Viktor Zayvenko.
«The NBU will cease minting coins of 1, 2, 5 and 25 kopiikas. At the same time, coins of all said denominations will remain in circulation», – Zayvenko stressed.
In addition, on April 27, the National Bank will introduced into circulation 7 million new coins of UAH 1 and 2 denominations.
According to him, the number of new circulating coins is insignificant, because they will be introduced step-by-step – by replacing banknotes of the corresponding denominations withdrawn from circulation.
Note that that new UAH 1 and 2 coins are similar in size to 1 and 2 kopiikas.
As «The Journalist» reported, the National Bank of Ukraine is ready for production of foreign currency to the order of other countries.
