Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto said that the desire of the Ukrainian authorities to reduce Russia’s influence in Ukraine, including through restricting the study of the Russian language, cannot be an excuse for narrowing the rights of the Hungarian minority in Zakarpattia.
Siyarto says in an interview to «Europeyska Pravda».
«We understand that you have problems with Russia. We understand that your government and the president want to reduce Russian influence, which goes, among other things, through Russian schools. But I have one question: if it is a question of the Russian language, how did we come to this picture, the Hungarians? We want to get out of there! – said Siyarto. – It seems that Hungary just fell under the distribution! But in any case – it’s «collateral destruction», or it was planned – your actions are hitting us.
As the «Journalist» reported Hungary insists that Ukraine comply with the Venice Commission’s recommendations on the law on education.
