Many migrants who entered the territory of the European Union trying to reach Germany, – the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany stated.
«A large number of migrants who have already been to Greece for some time or just arrived in this country are sent further to Western or Northern Europe», – said the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany.
According to the spokesperson, Greece remains «the gateway for illegal migration to Europe and a key point of transporting illegal immigrants».
Migrants, trying to get to the FRG as well as to other countries in the west and north of Europe, mainly move down the Balkan corridorу, Deutsche Welle reported.
The starting point for immigration is the land borders of Greece with Macedonia and Albania, as well as Greek air and sea ports. The representative of the German Ministry of the Interior called this territory a «dark zone».
