The day before on June 21st the Svyatoshinsky District Court of Kyiv examined two episodes in the case against five former servicemen of the special police unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs «Berkut» about the murder of activists of Euromaidan Maxim Shymko and Georgyi Harutyunyan who died on February 20, 2014 on the Institutskaya Street.
Harutyunyan received a deadly gunshot wound from a smooth-bore pump gun, one that was in service with the «Berkut», who stood above the «Maydanovtsi» on Institutskaya Street and fired at them.
Second episode – the murder of Shymko. He died in front of the Hotel «Ukraine» on the right side of Institutskaya Street. The bullet hit Shymko’s neck. It was shot released from a firearm with a caliber of 7.62 mm. The machine from which the bullet was fired belonged to one of the accused «Berkut» officer Serhiy Zinchenko.
In addition, the examination found that Shymko was wounded on the right side, that is, from where there was the so-called «black company» of the special police unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs «Berkut», writes Unian.
The prosecutor added that another unit of the «Berkut» fired at Harutyunyan, whose soldiers were dressed in blue uniform and bulletproof vests. The investigation knows what kind of unit it is, but its name will not be disclosed.
