Ukraine will be able to receive gas from the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP), which connects Azerbaijan, Turkey, Serbia and the EU countries, via Bulgaria and Romania.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko wrote this on his Twitter page.

«Ukraine will be able to receive gas from the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) through Bulgaria and Romania», – the message said.

Also, the president, who participated in the ceremony of launching the new gas pipeline, stressed that Ukraine fully supports the TANAP project, which will increase Europe’s energy security.

«From now on, the whole region will receive more security and better energy prospects. After all, as we have seen over the past years, the Russian Federation has been abusing energy resources. The Nord Stream-2 project is an example of such pressure. TANAP is an energy security, including for Europe. Ukraine fully supports the TANAP project», – Poroshenko said.

INFO: The Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) is a natural gas pipeline from Azerbaijan via Georgia and Turkey to the Greek border, which merges with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline.


The gas pipeline worth $ 9.2 billion provides gas transportation from the Azerbaijani «Shah Deniz» field from the Georgian-Turkish border to the western border of Turkey. Its construction began in March 2015.

As «The Journalist» reported, Gazprom completed construction of the first section of «Turkish flow» gas pipeline.
