US Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker says that the UN peacekeeping force should replace Russian troops in Donbas.
Mr Volker said this in a telephonic press briefing in Brussels, reported UNIAN.
«I think the most important message for Russian President Vladimir Putin is that Europeans want to see peace in Ukraine, they want to see restoration of Ukraine’s territory, and they want to see the implementation of Minsk agreements. It’s all in Russia hands. We need Russia to realize this», – Kurt Volker said.
He stated that the decision to change Russia’s behavior depends on Putin.
«And this is important for President Putin too. If he wants the restoration of stable relationship with Europe, and if he wants to lift the sanctions imposed because of the fighting in eastern Ukraine, he must act to resolve the conflict. Russia must withdraw its troops and allow the UN peacekeeping force to replace them», – US Special Representative stated.
As «The Journalist» reported, Ukraine will not be able to return territory already seized by Russia.
