The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a presidential law on Ukraine’s accession to the Metre Convention (No. 0181).
In the amount of 232 out of 344 people’s deputies supported the law that provides the accession to the Metre Convention, which was signed in Paris on 20 May 1875.
The Convention states that the contracting parties undertake to establish and maintain a permanent scientific institution, the International Bureau of Weights and Measures, headquartered in Paris.
Ukraine, as an associated member of the Bank Electronic Term Payments, pays annually a contribution to the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) from the State Budget.
The adoption of the bill will allow Ukraine to obtain BIPM membership and enjoy benefits of being its full member.
