Two Russian citizens have turned to Ukrainian border guards at the Hoptivka checkpoint in Kharkiv region and asked for political asylum in Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Service.
It is noted that these citizens are current employees of Russian interior bodies who are persecuted in Russia for their principled position on combating crime.
“The reason that prompted them to ask for political asylum in Ukraine was hiding from persecution due to their official activity,” the State Border Service reported.
According to the Russians, “they became” victims of harassment of influential people because they tried to counteract the spread of narcotic drugs in pharmacies at the area of their responsibility.”
The Russians explained that those who came in their field of view as police officers are a criminal group engaged in the distribution of drugs, with a clear and extensive network of ties among officials of different levels in government agencies of the Russian Federation.
The State Border Service added that the internal security of the Russian Interior Ministry has fabricated and investigated criminal case with respect to these law enforcers by the Investigative Committee.
As The Journalist reported, the wife of the murdered ex-deputy of the Sumy City Council, Zhuk, asked for political asylum in Russia.
