The faction of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) in the Bundestag unanimously adopted a document, which outlines a new strategy on resolving the situation in eastern Ukraine in twelve paragraphs.
It is expected that the project called “The world in Ukraine needs a new impulse” will soon be submitted to the Bundestag for consideration [by deputies], the Bild reports.
The FDP deputies believe that the Bundestag should call on the federal government to develop an additional action plan for the implementation of the Minsk agreements (with mandatory deadlines), as well as provide incentives for their compliance and the consequences of non-compliance.
Deputies propose to develop a peace plan (with the assistance of the German government in the UN Security Council), which stipulates deploying of the UN mission on the Ukrainian-Russian border, withdrawing all troops and weapons from the occupied territories of Donbas and dissolving of “governments” in self-proclaimed people’s republics.
A temporary civilian administration under the UN leadership with a clear mandate should govern the territories beyond the control of the Ukrainian authorities and prepare free and independent elections.
The FDP faction emphasizes that the election of a new president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the German presidency of the UN Security Council are the key for giving new impetus to Donbas peace talks.
As The Journalist reported, a militant who wanted to sabotage the military warehouses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was arrested in Donbas.
