The Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez won early parliamentary elections in Spain, which took place on April 28.
According to official data, the socialist party won with more than 28% of the vote, which will allow it to get 123 of the 350 seats in the Congress of Deputies.
“The Socialists party has won the general election, and with them the future has won, and the past has lost,” Sanchez said in a speech to his supporters in Madrid.
However, the formation of the government requires the support of at least 176 deputies, so Sanchez will have to negotiate with the other parties about the coalition, Deutsche Welle writes.
Five leaders of the movement for the independence of Catalonia, who are in prison, also entered the parliament.
In addition, deputy mandates received Jordi Turull, Jordi Sanchez and Josep Roull, who were nominated by the separatist bloc “Together for Catalonia”, headed by the former head of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont. All of them are in prison and awaiting trial.
As The Journalist reported, the president of Mexico demanded Catholic Church and Spain recognize the conquest of America as a crime.
