US military conducted first tests of F-35A fighter in combat operations in Iraq

On April 30, for the first time, two F-35A Lightning II fighters of US Air Force were used for combat purposes within the operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq, US Air Force website reported.

It is reported that F-35A conducted air strike at Iraqi city of Wadi Ashai in support of Combined Joint Task Force in Iraq.

“The F-35A launched an air strike to hit the rooted tunnel network of the terrorist organization Daesh [ISIL – ed.] and weapons cache deep in the Hamrin Mountains, a location able to threaten friendly forces,” the report said.

The F-35 is a modern fighter that combines extreme maneuverability, supersonic speed, the possibility of secretive, inconspicuous for radar flight and the latest technology.
