Since the beginning of the year, 23 attacks against journalists have been recorded in Ukraine, National Union of Journalists of Ukraine reports.
In general, for 4 months of 2019, 23 incidents of physical aggression against journalists have been recorded. In April-March most of all – 3 attacks – occurred in Kyiv and the Kyiv Oblast. Two attacks were recorded in Volyn Oblast, in addition to 3 incidents occurred on the territory of Western Ukraine. Also, force was used against journalists in Odesa and Zhytomyr – one attack was recorded in each oblast.
In particular, in the spring were attacked the journalist Ekateryna Kaplyuk and the operator Boris Trotsenko (the program “Schemes: Corruption in Detail”), Galina Yeremitz (the Bukovina Online information site), Olga Shendirovska (Zastavna Today and Bukovina Online) , Natalia Polishchuk (Avers TV and Radio Company), Vladislav Kornelyuk (Avres TV and Radio Company), Andriy Shkvarla (City site), Maria Zemlyanska, Maksym Opanasenko and operator Kirill Shapar (the project “Nashi Groschy”), Vasiliy Khomyuk (Zhytomyr.Life edition), Bohdan Osinskiy (Public Investigation edition).
As The Journalist reported, two men attacked the prosecutor directly in his office in Dnipro.
