Acting Deputy chief of U.S. mission to the OSCE Gregory Makris said in Vienna that the Russian Federation continues to put civilian lives at risk in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas, deploying army positions and fighting near residential areas, schools and enterprises.
“Russia and her puppets continue to put innocent civilian lives at risk. The SMM regularly documents the damage caused to the communities which are under the control of Russian-led forces. Military positioning and firing positions near residential areas, schools and enterprises unduly jeopardizes local residents,” said Makris.
The American diplomat stressed that the US is calling for the immediate withdrawal of prohibited weapons in accordance to the Minsk agreements, Ukrinform informs.
“Civilians should not face with these threats, however, Russia seems determined to continue the destruction she has initiated and supports the fifth year in row,” added Makris.
It also notes that the Russian Federation is arming and training illegal armed groups in the Donbas, leading them and fighting with them against the Ukrainian armed forces.
