Currently, 347 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are taking part in eight international peacekeeping and security operations.

This was stated by the deputy head of the Main Directorate of Military Cooperation and Peacekeeping Operations of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel Valentyn Levchyk.

“In total, 347 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine take part in eight international peacekeeping and security operations under the UN, NATO leadership and as part of a joint peacekeeping force. Two national contingents and national personnel perform tasks abroad on an ongoing basis,” the colonel said.

The first contingent is the 18th separate 250-person helicopter detachment, which is deployed and performs tasks as part of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The second national contingent is a 40-person engineering unit that performs tasks in Kosovo, Republic of Serbia.

Levchyk noted that due to the high appraisal of the activities of Ukrainian peacekeepers from international organizations and partner countries, Ukraine is willing to see both in the already existing and in the newly created missions and operations.

As The Journalist reported, the next rotation of the Ukrainian peacekeepers went to the Congo.
