The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, Oleksandr Danyliuk, said that he was in favor of reducing the number of ministries in the Cabinet.

Danyliuk said this in an interview with Channel 24.

“I have a vision of how the government should be. I saw what exactly does not work, how the manipulation takes place. This, of course, reduces the effectiveness of the work,” Danyliuk said.

“First of all, the government should be compact. I am for a small number of ministers. We have personnel shortages in the country. If we even have one or two weak ministers, not to mention the prime minister, it will simply pull the entire government down. On my opinion, the maximum of 12-13 ministers in the Cabinet will be enough,” the NSDC secretary noted.

Danyliuk also spoke about ways to achieve the formation of such a government.

“It is necessary to reduce the number of ministries. It is possible to combine them. For example, I was always a supporter of the idea to unite the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Finance. You can consider the association of the Ministry of Social Policy and Ministry of Health. Because, after all, healthcare is also a certain social function,” Danyliuk said.

“Such a logic must exclude the situation when in one union we have two arguing heads. There must be a single policy. I am against free vice prime ministers. I mean that every deputy prime minister should head the ministry. That is, one to replace the prime minister, when he is on vacation or unable to fulfill his duties – this is possible. The rest of ‘em is not necessary,“ the Secretary of the National Security Council said.

To Danyliuk, it is necessary to delegate powers to the ministers as much as possible.
