Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ruslan Riaboshapka said that the Higher Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine will be restarted.
“The highest qualification commission is the ‘victim’ #1, relatively speaking. The law provides for the termination of powers of all members of the qualification commission as a body that has failed to fulfill their tasks. New members will be elected in a very short time, within 30 days. This period is quite enough for all procedures to select new representatives of the body that will select the judges,” Riaboshapka said in an interview with Channel 24.
To the deputy head of the President Office, the process of bringing to justice will be changed radically.
“We followed the best world standards to protect judges’ rights perhabs too good, thus protecting them from absolutely everything, except some kind of informal influence outside the legal system. The terms of attraction will be reduced, the procedure itself will be simplified,” Riaboshapka said.
He noted that “an appointment will be based on the results of the competition.”
“We believe that the High Council of Justice should hold this competition, with the participation of the experts. The procedure may be similar to the election of judges in the High Anti-Corruption Court. There must be people selected by the Public Council of International Experts,” Riaboshapka explained.
