The head of the Prosecutor General’s Office’s 2nd Investigative Department, Andriy Radionov said that the PGO has filed charges against eight persons in the Mezhyhiria state residence (located in the Vyshorod district of the Kyiv Oblast) appropriation case, where Ukrainian former president Viktor Yanukovych lived from 2010 to 2014.
“Eight persons have been charged currently. There are even those for which sentences have entered into force. Starting from officials, in particular, two presidents and the prime minister, and to notaries. Our tactics [of the investigation] is going from top to bottom,” Radionov told Ukrainian Radio.
Thus, among the suspects the PGO named the third president of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, because the State Administration of Affairs obeyed him directly (in accordance with the law) and he examined the documents on which the further transfer of the residence depended.
Radionov also emphasized that at the present, Yushchenko charged under Article 191.
“This is also a crime with signs of corruption, but this is not a direct bribe. If there was enough evidence that the president, using authority, had given a bribe to be able to dissolve the Rada [Media suggest that Yushchenko bribed Yanukovych, who was prime minister then, to agree on an early election – ed.], now we don’t have enough such data. Although, of course, all versions are considered,” the PGO representative said.
