Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health and religious organizations should develop a unified approach regarding the use of medical cannabis, and only then submit it to the government.
“Speaking about medical use of marijuana, we have neither legislative support, nor procedure, nor philosophy on this subject. The former government discussed it without a single document. I voted against, because proposition is unclear. If this issue is again raised by the Ministry of Health, I will refuse it until a unified constructive approach will be worked out,” Avakov emphasized.
According to the minister, this issue should be discussed with the participation of medical workers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and religious organizations.
“In order to find out the ‘red line’ that we cannot cross, taking into account the obligations taken by Ukraine under the relevant international treaties. And if the government come to this issue, it is this general vision should be discussed,” Avakov is convinced.
