Ukrainian Parliament amended law on Supreme Anti-Corruption Court

The Verkhovna Rada has supported in the second reading the draft law on amending the Law of Ukraine #1025 “On the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court” in the matter of starting of the work of the court.

The corresponding decision was backed by 323 deputies.

The law gives priority to cases regarding top corrupt officials during the process of transferring cases to the Anti-Corruption Court from other courts. According to the text of the bill, other cases will be sent to the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court ​​gradually, in the future. This relates to investigations that were launched on the day of the start of the work of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine.

Recall, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court began its work on September 5. However, according to the lawyers of the Center for Combating Corruption, the Court ​​is facing a collapse, because according to the state judicial administration, it may receive at least three and a half thousand cases.
