About 46 companies, including 11 foreign ones, became interested in the concession projects of SE Olvia Stevedoring Company and SE Kherson Commercial Sea Port, the deputy minister of infrastructure of Ukraine Yuriy Lavrenyuk reported on air NewsOne.
“The Verkhovna Rada has adopted in the second reading the law on concession, we applaud standing to everyone who participated in its development. I am sure that the president will sign it in the near future. Concession is the only way for the growth of the marine industry,” Yuriy Lavrenyuk said.
He recalled that the concession project of the Olvia Stevedoring Company provides for UAH 17.3 billion investments in port infrastructure and is designed for 35 years. During this time, about UAH 58 billion of taxes and fees will be transferred to budgets of all levels. “Now, for example, the port pays much less to the budget. Moreover, the enterprise remains state-owned. After 35 years, the concessionaire should transfer it to the state’s administration,” the deputy minister added.
The concession project Kherson Commercial Sea Port involves the transfer of its property to a concession for a 30-years period and UAH 1.5 billion investment in port infrastructure. Budget revenues are expected to reach UAH 14.5 billion.
On October 1, the Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy presented concession projects of Olvia and Kherson seaports to representatives of international organizations, Ukrainian and foreign investors.
