According to the seaport’s press service, the freight was delivered by Marshall Islands-flagged Prometheus Energy tanker (250-meter-long).
The main dispatching office of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority’s Odesa office reported that the ship delivered 81,282 tons of crude oil from the Libyan port of Az-Zawiyah. Handling the tanker took 41 hours with a standard of 38 hours.
The pumping of the oil into terminal’s facilities began on the evening of November 9 and was carried out by three pumps.
In addition, another heavy tanker with Azerbaijani oil is expected to arrive this month.
The port reported that in past 20 years, its oil and gas terminals handled transit and imported oil originating from 8 countries — Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Brazil, Venezuela, and the United States. Libya became the ninth country, and the Prometheus Energy tanker delivered the first batch of oil from that country to the Ukrainian market.
The seller is BP, an international trader that previously arranged deliveries of three spot batches of American Bakken crude oil (up to 250,000 tons) for the Kremenchug oil refinery.
