Zelensky proposes to concentrate no more than 10,000 hectares of land in hands of one operator

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during the meeting with residents of Krasna Slobidka village in the Kyiv Oblast.

“There was a question of land concentration. MPs initially introduced a rate of more than 200,000 hectares. That’s a lot, I agree. The Committee on Agrarian Policy has reached a figure of 20,000. Too many? Well, up to 10,000 hectares is normal? Let’s make it from 10,000 hectares and consider it on the Committee, and remove [from the bill – ed.] the concentration of up to 50,000 hectares, then 20,000 hectares,” Zelensky said.

In addition, the President noted that after the adoption of the law on land reform, there would be a certain preparatory stage for the full launch of the market.

“The moratorium can be lifted only after the law is adopted and signed. And then you still need to work with the registries to keep everything clean. And the market can start operating only a year after, in the fall. Because there should be a long preparation for the sale of land,” Zelensky emphasized.

Ukranian MP: First, VR will pass law on farmland sale to foreigners, and in 2-3 years, they will hold a referendum.
