President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed the law on rebooting the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), the RBC-Ukraine reported.
The law on the reboot of the SBI provides for dismissal its head, Roman Truba.
The competitive commission will begin to select a new SBI head, and for now, his duties will be temporarily fulfilled by the candidate, who will be appointed by the president. Zelensky has five days to do this.
The President of Ukraine signed a bill amending the law of Ukraine “On the State Bureau of Investigation” to improve its activities.
Note that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in second reading bill No.216 on the reboot of the State Bureau of Investigation. The document provides for the transfer of investigators and prosecutors, who investigated the Maidan case in the General Prosecutor’s Office, to the SBI.
According to the bill, the bureau becomes a state law enforcement body, which is entrusted with the tasks of preventing, detecting, terminating, solving and investigating crimes that fall within its competence.
On November 23, the director of the State Bureau of Investigation, Roman Truba, announced that he was ready to leave his post in three years.
