Lieutenant Colonel Vladyslav Ponomarev, head of the combat training department of the Ground Forces – deputy head of the combat training department of the Main Armed Forces training center of the Armed Forces, has said that this year the number of training simulators in the Armed Forces of Ukraine would increase to 60%.
Currently, the availability of a training base in the training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is approximately 40% of the needs, and the planned financial resource for 2020 allows to increase this figure to 60%.
“Simulators will be purchased both for training operators and crews, for example, 2C6 Tunguska, and the platoon as a whole. In particular, the Air Force training center will receive multimedia systems of the S-300 and Buk-M1 air defense systems, the Naval forces training center will receive T-80 tank simulators, and the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces training center will receive BMP static simulators,” Army Inform quotes Vladyslav Ponomarev, as saying.
The arrangement of computer multifunctional classes will also continue, which allow the commander to control a virtual platoon.
“The involvement of various training systems in the combat training system is due to the need to ensure a high level of preparedness of military personnel while reducing material and financial costs. Such an approach is extremely relevant for Ukraine,” Ponomarev emphasized, adding that the use of simulators allows AFU to work out realistic combat scenarios, which is sometimes impossible to do in the field conditions.
Earlier it was a question of individual training of the military on a simulator; now modern simulation tools are used in combination with powerful computer systems for conducting unit exercises.
As The Journalist reported, Ukrainian army received more than 7,000 units of military equipment in 2019.
