Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, the Ministry of Energy and the Environment, the European Business Association and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) initiate work on a new basic law on pesticides and agrochemicals in 2020.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy following a meeting of the government and the business community representatives.
“Based on the results of the meeting, it was decided to create a joint working group in 2020 to develop a new basic law on the management of pesticides and agrochemicals, which will comply with the plan for the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU. An effective model for controlling the use of plant protection products will also be developed,” the ministry said.
It is known that the adoption of the bill on the import of pesticides into the customs territory of Ukraine will give Ukrainian agricultural producers access to more modern and highly effective pesticides. The adoption of the bill on improving state regulation in the field of pesticide and agrochemicals management will strengthen the fight against counterfeit and introduce an electronic registry of plant protection products.
Recall that in September 2019, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources agreed to export unsuitable pesticides from Ukraine for safe disposal in the EU.
