Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Dmytro Kuleba has said that Ukraine is ready to gain access to the procurement system of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO).
According to the Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian delegation met with the leadership of NATO on January 14-15 at the Alliance’s headquarters in Brussels.
“NATO’s defense procurement system is similar to the Ukrainian ProZorro system. We convinced that Ukraine’s participation in this system will make Ukraine and NATO stronger. This fits to the logic of the government’s actions on creating new opportunities for Ukrainian exporters. In fact, we are talking about the Euro-Atlantic integration of the Ukrainian defense industry,” Kuleba said.
According to the Vice Prime Minister, Ukrainian manufacturers will be able to participate in NATO tenders and sell their products to foreign customers in this way, as well as approach the Alliance’s standards.
Svetlana Panaiotidi, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, asked NATO representatives to send specialists to Ukraine to consult about procurement system, used by NSPA.
“We plan to hold a seminar with representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry in February-March 2020 regarding the procedure for free registration of Ukrainian enterprises in the NSPA electronic catalog for manufacturers of defense products,” Panaiotidi emphasized.
Ukraine also plans to organize an exhibition of the capabilities and achievements of individual enterprises of its defense industry at NATO headquarters in 2020.
As The Journalist reported, NATO believes reforming SBU is one of key tasks for Ukraine in 2020.
