The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine offered the Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air to enter the Ukrainian domestic air transport market.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure, referring to the results of the meeting between the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Krykliy and the co-founder and CEO of Wizz Air Jozsef Varadi.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the results of the airline’s work in the Ukrainian market, the development of the aviation industry in Ukraine, and outlined the prospects for expanding presence of the Hungarian company in the Ukrainian market.
“Vladyslav Kryrkliy made a proposal to intensify the dialogue regarding Wizz Air entering Ukrainian domestic air transport market. Mr. Varadi announced the airline’s plans to be present on the Ukrainian market, and noted that Wizz Air is ready for a constructive dialogue,” the ministry said.
To Krykliy, increasing the share of low-cost airlines in the Ukrainian air transport market is one of the top priorities for the ministry.
Wizz Air had been granted permissions for scheduled international flights to 13 countries for the winter season 2019/2020, and that is the largest network of routes among foreign carriers that operate regular flights to/from Ukraine.
As The Journalist reported, SkyUp plans to launch 30 new flights in 2020.
