The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Volodymyr Borodiansky has said that the government planned to build 100 stadiums across Ukraine, as part of a large-scale sports reform.

He said this during a meeting of the Organizing Committee on the preparation and participation of Ukrainian athletes in the XXII Olympic Games and the XVI Paralympic Games in 2020 in Tokyo (Japan).

The Ministry is actively developing sports reform with the involvement of all sports federations and public organizations.

“The main directions of the reform are the autonomy of the federation for the better development of sports and additional programs for financing sports of the highest achievements, for example, the top 100 athletes; the development of mass sports through financing children’s, school and student leagues with a common state budget and local budgets,” Borodiansky emphasized.

To the minister, it is planned to create the Ukrainian Sports Fund in order to finance sports startups and sports events, especially in small towns and villages, UNIAN reports.

“Large-scale construction of sports infrastructure, namely 150 sports facilities, including 100 stadiums that we will begin to construct this year, 24 multi-sports complexes, 24 sports parks, an international training center, an international sports class,” Borodiansky said.

As The Journalist reported, Shovkovskiy might head Youth and Sports Ministry.
