The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has excluded hydroxychloroquine-based drugs from the list of drugs recommended for the treatment of COVID-19. This was reported in an official letter to the administration.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has decided to revoke the emergency use of chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate for distribution.
This decision was made on the basis of new clinical trial results, which showed that “this drug may be ineffective for the treatment of COVID-19.”
