Hubble snaps comet NEOWIS

The Hubble Telescope has imaged comet NEOWIS, taken on August 8 when the comet flew past the Earth in July-August, NASA reports.

The telescope managed to get a snapshot of the cloud of dust and gas that surrounds the core. It stretches for about 18,000 kilometers. Comet NEOWIS was visible without special telescope equipment in July and August of 2020. The last time it was seen with the naked eye from the northern hemisphere in 1997.
