The mayor of Kyiv Vitalii Klitschko reported another 319 coronavirus cases, eight patients died over the past day.
“The virus is not retreating! The situation is getting worse. Over the past day – new 319 patients! Eight people died. In total, the coronavirus claimed 230 lives of Kyiv residents. The number of deaths has not decreased over the past week. Currently, Kyiv has 14,477 confirmed coronavirus cases,” Klitschko said.
Among those who were infected on previous day are 158 women aged 18 to 85 and eight girls aged from four months to 14 years. As well as 142 men aged 19 to 81 and 11 boys aged from 4 to 17. This figure includes 17 health workers.
Some 59 patients were hospitalized. Others are staying on self-isolation under the supervision of doctors. Over the past day, 63 people have recovered bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,616.
“The highest number of new cases were reported in Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts (48 each), in Sviatoshynskyi district (35), in Pecherskyi and Solomenskyi districts (33 each),” Klitschko said.
According to him, the number of infected doctors in the capital is also increasing:
“Over the past two weeks, the number of doctors who got sick with coronavirus has increased. In total, 948 health workers fell ill with coronavirus during the pandemic. The overwhelming majority of them caught the virus while performing their professional duties,” the mayor said.
He noted that as of September 4, 33 doctors are being treated in hospitals and 772 have recovered.
“The increase in the number of patients among the medical personnel is also explained by the increase in morbidity in the capital. In particular, an increase in the number of hospitalized. Therefore, when you neglect the safety rules, think about whether someone will save you and treat you,” Klitschko said.
