The European Commission proposed to simplify the cross-border rules for tourists. Testing for coronavirus may become an alternative to quarantine, The Telegraph reports.

The European Commission has commissioned health experts to develop the necessary protocols.

The EU member states will be forced to “mutually recognize” coronavirus tests if such a decision to be made. This will allow businessmen and tourists arriving in a particular EU country to shorten the duration of the quarantine or avoid it. It will be enough just to provide a medical certificate indicating a negative result for coronavirus.

Britain will also be involved in this scheme until the end of 2020, or even further if relevant agreement to be signed.

Earlier, EU countries agreed on a common coronavirus testing and quarantine system for EU tourists and other travelers during the pandemic.
