The Government of Cyprus will terminate a lucrative programme granting citizenship to wealthy investors from November 2020, BBC reports.
This decision was made after Al Jazeera caught on camera offering to help a fictitious Chinese investor with criminal record to obtain Cypriot citizenship.
One of the persons involved in the investigation was the speaker of the country’s parliament, Demetris Syllouris. He announced that he would resign even before the investigation will be completed.
